Having never been up on Mt. Hood, or to Timberline Lodge,
I thought this would be a good day to correct this oversight.
These picture were taken on the road up to, and near, the Lodge.
Took these first two out the window while driving 70 mph
(er, excuse me, 55 mph) down the road.
Didn't even see "the face" until I saw the pictures.
One of the most moving places I have discovered on the Oregon Coast,
is Cape Sebastian. The majesty of the view, of the atmosphere and (usually)
the wind, is so powerful as to cause one to re-evaluate our significance here.
A little way farther south along this magnificent strech of the Coast is another small
state park called Arch Rock. The first two of these pictures could almost be merged to
form a panoramic. Is the flower an Iris, or could it be an Orchid?
Saturday morning found me by a lake between Ashland and toward Klamamth Falls. The
mist was just beginning to rise enough to see the boats of those hoping to find a hungry
trout. Others, who fished without a license, lurked above the high water. See closeup.
Heading back toward Ashland the vistas were spectacular. But, being a lover of horses
since I can remember, the sight of these two munching on the
grass and small flowers brought me to a hurried stop.
